"They are very local for me and I like that. Technically, they're absolutely great!"

In 1981, after one of the ageing analogue wind systems at the Manchester-based Great Lakes Manufacturing (UK) Limited was destroyed in a storm, urgent attention was sought. MetEngUK was contacted, and asked whether they had expertise with such wind systems. They did, and a new combined anemometer and wind vane sensor was soon installed to bring the system back to full serviceability.

MetEngUK was then engaged to provide an annual routine maintenance service for the two systems at Great Lakes, and a decision was taken in 2007 to replace the instrumentation with state-of-the-art digital systems. The first replacement system was fitted in 2007; the second a year later. The manufacturing site is now owned by Chemtura Manufacturing (UK) Limited, to whom MetEngUK is contracted to maintain and service the two digital wind systems, together with a data recording system.
