'The Met' call in MetEngUK

'The Met' call in MetEngUK

News Release No: 12/2011 - London’s Metropolitan Police Service brings in Met Engineering Limited (MetEngUK), the Manchester-based experts in meteorological engineering, to update and install additional operational meteorological systems at their 24-hour Air Support Unit.

As far back as 2001, ‘The Met’ engaged MetEngUK to install specialised meteorological equipment to help with their helicopter operations from a base in Essex. Since that time, MetEngUK has provided a routine maintenance and calibration service for their operational meteorological systems.

Following decisions to enhance a number of facilities at the Essex base, the need for additional meteorological equipment, and the updating of existing systems was identified. The requirement was put out to competitive tender and, in the face of vigorous competition, the contract was awarded to Met Engineering Limited.

The project is of necessity being managed in three phases: civil works; new systems installation; additional display systems installation. The first two phases were completed on schedule early in December 2011, with the third phase planned for completion in January 2012.
