New Automatic Weather Station for Centrica

MetEngUK engineers today completed the installation of a new automatic weather station at Centrica's Barry Power Station in south Wales.

After a protracted consultation period, the Instrumentation staff at Barry Power Station decided on Vaisala's upgraded WXT520 Weather Transmitter to form the heart of their new weather monitoring system.

The WXT520, together with a specialised converter to provide current loop data compatible with the existing data processing system, and associated power systems were supplied by MetEngUK. The compact weather transmitter will provide vital meteorological data to the power station operator, including wind speed & direction, air temperature & humidity, and atmospheric pressure. Although not required operationally in this application, the WXT520 is also capable of outputting comprehensive precipitation data.
