New wind monitoring equipment supplied to Chemtura by MetEngUK

Responsible chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturers install sensors and recording equipment to log wind data wherever there is the risk of a hazardous release to the atmosphere.

Chemtura Manufacturing (UK) Limited, the Trafford Park, Manchester chemical company, is one such responsible manufacturer; in addition to having their two wind systems annually serviced and calibrated by MetEngUK, they have today upgraded one of their ageing wind systems to a modern Vaisala WD30-based system.

In the new system, wind speed and direction data, in the form of industry-standard loop currents, are fed directly from a roof-mounted WAT12 wind data transmitter to Chemtura’s computerised safety management system.

Another independent wind monitoring system, with displays in the security lodge at the site entrance, and recording equipment installed nearby, is scheduled for replacement by a similar Vaisala system in the near future.
