Scottish Power calls in MetEngUK to resolve data problems at Herts power station

MetEngUK engineers were called to Scottish Power’s Rye House power station, near Hoddesdon, Herts., today to resolve problems with the operational wind indicating system, and investigate the loss of data from a temperature measuring system.

The efficiency of the Combined Cycle Gas Turbine generators at Rye House is critically dependent on a range of meteorological parameters, including wind speed and direction, and other data such as air temperature, humidity and atmospheric pressure.

The wind system was restored to full operational status on the day of the visit by exchanging the anemometer and wind vane with serviceable sensors, and a faulty temperature/humidity transmitter was removed to MetEngUK’s Manchester workshops for repair and calibration.

MetEngUK was pleased to learn that Scottish Power would require the company to provide annual servicing and calibration services at Rye House power station on a long-term basis.
