BAE Systems engages MetEngUK to service and calibrate aviation meteorological systems at Walney Island airfield

MetEngUK paid an initial visit to Walney island airfield on 23 October 2002, to calibrate an aviation barometer system and determine the feasibility of servicing an outdated airfield wind system. The visit was soon followed by an order for a new, state-of-the art wind system, based around Vaisala’s WD50 averaging wind display unit.

The installation and commissioning of the new system was completed on 9 November 2002.
