MetEngUK completes IRVR installation at BAE Systems Walney Island airfield

A minor problem with the new Forward Scatter IRVR system at Walney Island was finally overcome today, when the Runway Lighting Interface was activated, and the system became fully operational.

The Vaisala FS11 Forward Scatter visibility sensor, which was originally installed in 2005 to provide MOR data, was converted to a full IRVR system by MetEngUK in September 2008, when substantial additions were made to the field installation, and Vaisala AviMet® software was installed.
