Rio Tinto engages MetEngUK

Rio Tinto, one of the world’s largest companies, and the global leader in the aluminium industry, has today contracted MetEngUK to supply and install state-of-the-art meteorological sensors at their manufacturing complex in Northumberland. 

The new sensors, one suite to be installed adjacent to Britain’s only aluminium smelter site at Lynemouth, and another close by in the town of Ashington, form part of a critical environmental monitoring system that allows Rio Tinto Alcan to operate their facility at maximum efficiency, but with minimum impact on local air quality. MetEngUK has also been engaged to provide annual maintenance and calibration services for this and other meteorological sensors at the Lynemouth site.
